Internet Policies
It is the customers responsibily to read and be aware of the "Acceptable Use Policy and term of the Internet Provider (MVCC). If a customer does not understand any particular part of this policy or any terms in the policy, the customer should contact MVCC support staff either by e-mail mvcc@mvcc.com or by phone (517) 852-1784 with any questions they may have, if not covered in this policy. Interpretation of all policy meanings are the sole discretion of MVCC.
If the customer does not comply with the terms, conditions, and policy guidelines set by MVCC penalties may apply. Guidelines, policy content, and other information contained herein may be changed, or modified without prior notice as to the discretion of MVCC. If you are uncertain about any Internet activity you are planning to particpate in, it is your responsibility to first check with MVCC and with all concerned government agencies about what is legal and what is not.
Customer must be at least 18 years of age, and are responsible for not only their own actions but also for the action of anyone using their name and password to access the Internet through MVCC.
Accounts are sold on an Individual Account basis. If there is evidence of multiple connection at the same time, with the same user name, additional charges may apply.
We request you disconnect when your are not "Actively Using" your Internet connection. Not only is this considered to be courteous to fellow users that may want to use the line you've free up but also will help you stay within the Connectivity Guidelines.
Any programs that aid in continual "Connectivity" is prohibited. If continual connectivity is evident, the Individual account may be terminated without refund of any kind.
CONNECTIVITY: Pertains to the amount of time a user is actually logged onto the Internet through their MVCC connection and is limited to 8 hours of connectivity per day per individual account.
UNLIMITED USAGE: An Internet connection is "Unlimited as to time of day (24 hours per day, 7 days per week) you can access the Internet. Some people confuse the term "UNLIMITED USAGE" with "CONNECTIVITY".
SESSION: Is usually one to two hour time limit (time out) used during high peak hours to enable more user access to the Internet during prime time.
ACTIVE USE: Active Use is considered to be surfing the Internet, actively participating in chat programs, downloading programs, sending/receiving e-mail, or any activity which will show activity over the line. It is NOT considered "Active Use" If you leave your computer connected to the Internet while you're not physically at your computer using it. Inactive connection may be disconnected after a set period of time. Programs that try to trick the system as to activity, so they remain connected, or auto-redail to reconnect automatically are strictly prohibited. If evidence of these type of programs exist, Individual accounts may be closed without refund of any kind.
NORMAL USE: Normal use is considered to be one Internet connection at a time per user and 8 hours of connectivity per user per day. If your needs exceed this guideline you may wish to consider a "Dedicated Connection" account.
DEDICATED ACCESS: We offer a "Dedicated Access" account upon request. This type of account will have a private telephone line and modem for you to access continual without interruption 24 per day 7 days a week
Maple Valley Computer Center is an Internet service provider which provides resources for use by its customers. The use of Maple Valley Computer Center's resources must be consistent with the Maple Valley Computer Center acceptable use policy. The responsibility for traffic that does or does not conform to this policy is with the individual user who originates that traffic, and all consequences lie with that individual. Maple Valley Computer Center cannot and will not assume any responsibility for information transferred by anyone other than an owner, agent, or employee of the Company.
It is not acceptable to use Maple Valley Computer Center internet access services for any purposes which violate local, state, U.S. or international law.
It is not acceptable to use Maple Valley Computer Center internet access services so as to interfere with or disrupt MVCC's or any other network's users, services, or equipment. Such interference or disruption includes, but is not limited to:
- Distribution of unsolicited advertising
- Propagation of computer worms or viruses, and
- Using the network to make unauthorized entry to other computing, information, or communications services, devices, or resources.
- Providing services from your personal computer via a non-dedicated dialup account.
- Web Servers
- FTP Servers
- Mail Servers
- Any service currently being offered by Maple Valley Computer Center
The Members of Maple Valley Computer Center, or a designated party, will review alleged violations of the MVCC Acceptable Use policy on a case-by-case basis. Obvious violations of the policy which are not promptly remedied by the relevant customer may result in the expulsion of the customer from MVCC internet access services, termination of all MVCC services, and forfeiture of all moneys paid to MVCC to date.
Maple Valley Computer Center reserves the right to modify this policy at any time without prior notice as to the discretion of MVCC.

As the Internet has grown, there also has been a steady growth in the number and variety of Internet "abuse " cases. Internet abuse encompasses all sort of negative acts, from e-mail spaming to network-based hacking to personal crimes including stalking and harassment.
As a result of these unfortunate side effects of growth, we are receiving an ever-increasing number of abuse reports from internet user and network providers, both within MVCC and from the greater Internet.
It has become a standard practice for all organization on the Internet to support an Abuse Reporting Program.

To report network abuse:
Serious problems such as threats to individuals or on-going denial of service attacks should be reported by phone to MVCC. Threats that include the possibility of harm to an individual should also be reported to the State and Local Police.
Less serious problems such as SPAM, Chain Letters, Vulgar & Obsecene Language should be reported by sending e-mail to: abuse@mvcc.com
All serious on going incidents should be reported by telephone to MVCC and the police department.

Maple Valley Computer Center is a community Internet Service Provider. These guidelines are designed to allow all members of the MVCC community equal access to the Personal Pages. The intent is not to censor, but to provide a common, reponsible method of presenting individuals pages.
Be creative and enjoy your Internet account!
- No advertising is allowed on the Personal Pages. This includes, but is not limited to: the rendering of services; the selling of goods or products; and other means by which the owner of the Personal Page might be compensated. Any advertising must be done via a paid Business Page account. Educational institutions and other non-profit groups or organizations must also be paid accounts, but at a 50% discount from the current Business Page rates. (see services page for details.)
- The maximum space allowed for a Personal Page is 5 MEG. Pages requiring more disk space, or those which exceed this limit during the course of changes or additions, must become paid accounts and will be considered a Business Page regardless of content. These pages will be subject to additional pricing as per item #1.
- Pages containing sensitive materials (explicit language or pictures, or other materials Maple Valley Computer Center deems as sensitive) must have: a plain cover page indicating that sensitive materials are contained within; a means of exiting the cover page without proceeding further; and a disclaimer indicating Maple Valley Computer Center is not accountable for materials presented within.
- Owners of a Personal Page may not attempt to access other owners areas, or attempt to alter page content of any pages other than their own. Such attempts that are verified by Maple Valley Computer Center may result in the loss of the Personal Page, and may cause further actions to be taken.
- Owners may not present any materials which are illegal or copyrighted.
- Owners must use Maple Valley Computer Center approved methods for entering, adding and modifying pages.
- All pages will be reviewed by Maple Valley Computer Center to ensure they meet all the specified criteria. Maple Valley Computer Center reserves the right to remove access and/or pages, without notification, for any violations of the provisions listed above.
